Scholarships

AHCL offers access to three academic scholarships, two for high school graduates to pursue undergraduate studies, and one for personal and professional growth of AHCL members.

The AHCL Scholarship is for a graduating high school senior living in the State of Alabama. The applications will be judged on the following criteria: Character, Leadership and Service, Financial Need, and Scholastic Ability.

The Dorothy E. Tate Scholarship was established by the Alabama Homemakers and Community Leaders (AHCL) to honor Dr. Dorothy E. Tate in recognition of her invaluable help, guidance, and encouragement she gave while serving as our advisor 1975-1991. It was established in 1991 to aid AHCL members working toward degree or non degree personal development goals.

The Country Women’s Council, USA (CWC) to honor Ruth Buxton Sayre, established the Ruth Buxton Sayre Scholarship. Mrs. Buxton attained national and international recognition championing a better way of life for rural people. The purpose of the scholarship is to foster the educational development of women.
